Jeff Sudmyer

Senior Director

As Senior Director, Jeff draws on over twenty years of experience as a teacher and administrator to coach principals and collaborate with leaders and teachers at Springpoint partner schools who are working to create innovative high school models.

Jeff was the founding principal of Amistad Academy High School, the first high school in the Achievement First charter network. He also spent several years with Achievement First as an assistant superintendent, coaching principals and managing a curriculum team that created an open-source, AP aligned curriculum that is used by schools across the country. The schools in Jeff’s portfolio were routinely ranked at the top of U.S. News and World Report’s list of great schools in Connecticut. Under Jeff’s tenure, Achievement First high schools saw 95% of graduates earn acceptance to a four-year college. The network also dramatically expanded AP access, with nearly 100% of students taking 3 or more AP courses; at least 50% of students graduate having passed at least one AP exam. Prior to founding Amistad High, Jeff served as a high school history teacher in Massachusetts and in California as a Teach For America corps member. He also worked as a dorm parent at a junior boarding school and trained teachers via the New Teacher Project.

Jeff holds a Bachelor of Arts from Colgate University, a Masters of Education from Harvard University, and a degree in educational leadership from the University of Connecticut.
